Foreword

Assalaamu A'laykum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakaatuhu,
All praise be to Almighty Allah,
and may His Peace and Blessings be upon our beloved Prophet  Muhammed (S.A.W),

The perfect way of life which was taught to us by the Honourable Rasulullah (S.A.W) over 1400 years ago included guidance on every aspect of our lives. Moreover, it was taught to us that through following this way of life in the prescribed manner, we would be able to earn Allah's eternal happiness and paradise (Insha-Allah). One of the aspects of our lives which were often stressed upon by our beloved Nabi (S.A.W) was our relationship with, and conduct towards, our family members. 'Aa'isha (R.A) reports that Rasulullah (S.A.W) said: "The tie of kinship is suspended to the 'Arsh (Throne of Allah) and says: He who unites me Allah will unite him and he who severs me Allah will sever him" (Sahih Muslim, 4635).

It is in this spirit, of building the bonds between family members - who over time have drifted apart in this fast-paced world, that this gargantuan project was undertaken. It was no easy task collecting, compiling, arranging, editing, checking, and re-checking many times over, the information which is presented here. Our gratitude goes to Allah who has made this possible, and may He reward all those who - in any way - contributed in this endeavour.

Every effort has been taken to ensure the accuracy of the genealogical information provided. Additionally, the oral history that we have relied upon is subject to human error and the effects of time on memory. Where different sources have provided us with conflicting accounts, we have endeavoured to use the most probable and/or widely agreed upon accounts. Your understanding and forgiveness for any incorrect information provided will be appreciated.

May Allah shine His light of Mercy on our departed Marhooms, on our elders, our youngsters, and upon all the Ummat of Rasulullah (S.A.W).

Jazaakallah to all of those who assisted in the compilation of this family tree. Our special thanks to Yusuf Dadabhay (Ricky), who was instrumental in initiating the project and doing much of the research for it; Yusof Dadabhay (Dada) who compiled, amended, and setup the family tree; Zayd Dadabhay, who formatted the information on computer, and setup the website; and Zeenat Dadabhay who assisted in writing the family history. Jazaakallah to Firose Toorawa (Mauritius) for correcting some of the information about Bawa's family and history. Jazaakallah also to Rashid Ahmed Saloojee for agreeing to assist in the printing of this important family legacy.

Aameen
